The Elmvale Foundation is a non-profit research organization providing environmental science education.
The Elmvale Foundation and its first annual event, the Elmvale Water Festival were created by William Shotyk. Dr. Shotyk is the Bocock Chair for Agriculture and the Environment in the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta, specializing in the study of trace metals in the environment.
Dr. Shotyk's studies have shown that the pristine groundwaters of the Elmvale area (Springwater and Tiny Townships) are comparable in many respects to the cleanest layers of ancient arctic ice. The remarkable purification of natural waters as illustrated by these artesian flows presents a tremendous opportunity for environmental science education.
The thinking, motivation and planning associated with the Annual Water Festival and the work of the Elmvale Foundation has been captured in an eBook called The Elmvale Story. The book is freely available to download in Adobe pdf format.
